A Penny For My Thoughts

Whoa Baby!

By Paul Wein

Today, the members of our South Park family threw a surprise baby shower for Ralph and Kristen, who are expecting their son, Ryan William on or around November 10th. While everyone stayed in Tom and Carla’s house and decorated for the shower, Summer, Ralph and I took Kristen to lunch and to the store to keep her out of the house until everything was set.

When we got back to the house and opened the door, the house was decorated with balloons, banners and flags that said “It’s A Boy!” along with a Christmas tree decorated with pacifiers, baby shoes and teething rings. And when Kristen entered the house, everyone screamed, “Surprise!” – and after she got over her shock – the festivities began.

The festivities included games that included Baby Bingo, trying to guess the answers to eight questions that Erica asked Ralph about his son – and trying to draw a picture of what you think the baby might look like – all the time holding the piece of paper on top of your head while drawing it. We also had some Fondue and drinks – and then watched Ralph and Kristen open the gifts that we bought for them.

I am the first to admit that I do not want a child of my own, but I can feel the love coming off of Ralph when he talks about his son. And when I saw them in person for the first time since she became pregnant, I watched Ralph tend to her every need, never leave her side – and kiss her stomach every chance he got. I am so happy for Ralph and Kristen and what lies ahead for them when their son is born. Ralph has already told me that he can’t wait to hold his son when he is born, and I know that both he and Kristen can’t wait to do a lot of things when Ryan comes into the world. Things like feeding him his first bottle, watching him take his first steps – and sending him off to his first day of school. The good news for Ryan is that he is going to be born into a world where two people who are very much in love with each other are eagerly awaiting him – so they can give him the same love that they give to one another.

I wish Ralph and Kristen all the blessings in the world. I pray that Ryan is born healthy and ready to take on the world. I want for them nothing but to live a wonderful life with their new baby – and I can’t wait to see pictures of the newest member of my South Park family.

Good luck Ralph and Kristen, we’re all with you...

…and we’ll see you soon Ryan.
