My End of Year Achievement Awards

By Paul Wein

There is less than one month left of the year 2000 and that means that it's time for my famous End of the Year Awards. These awards are bestowed to those who have accomplished the most, screwed up the Worst - or just did something that is so memorable, that it is indeed well deserving of such an honor. So without further delay, here are my pics for the very best of 2000.

In the WWF, I would say that Gimmick of the Year has to go to Right To Censor. To get fans to love to hate you is a true gift - and Steven Richards has that gift. It was true genius to give the fans a plethora of T&A only to have a man start an organization that pulls it away from them and turns everyone's favorite Pimp Daddy into the Goodfather - bravo. Hot chick of the year - Lita. Please moonsault me - please. Tag Team of the Year - I would give it to the Hardy Boyz. I haven't seen a tag team that puts their bodies on the line like that in years - they really give their all. And both Acquisition of the year and Wrestler of the Year has to go to Chris Benoit. By far, this man is THE man. If you look up technical wrestler in the dictionary it would say "see Beniot, Chris." He deserves to be in the WWF.

And the winners among our friends in Atlanta are...for Best Year - Booker T. It's about time that man added World Champ to his business card. I am happy that despite the turmoil in WCW - they saw that his time was long overdue. Tag Team of the Year, believe it or not has to go to Jindrak and O'Hare. Last year, they were no one. Now - they're former WCW Tag Champs. Like them or not, they made a name for themselves from nothing. Monster of the Year goes to the current WCW Champion, Big Poppa Pump. How long do you think it will be before the skin around his huge muscles split? And finally, Mean Gene Okerlund gets the Special Dick Clark Age Defying Award. Is it me or did he stop aging like fifteen years ago?

In the ECW, the Wrestler of the year award has to go to Jerry Lynn. I am happy that he finally go his chance to shine by winning the World Title this year. Let's hope he wins it again. Powerhouse of the Year is without a doubt Rhino. That's one man I would never piss off. The Wrestler I would most like to hang out with award goes to the Sandman. I wish I could down a six pack before I start my day. And finally, Francine and Dawn Marie get my favorite award - the Please make out award - can I get an Amen?
