Vince Loses His Daughter - Chyna Loses Her Title - Kitty Loses Her Bra

By Paul Wein

The World Wrestling Federation certainly made sure that the 20th Century goes out with a bang by bringing us one of the most shocking and entertaining pay-per-views of the century on Sunday - Armageddon. From title changes, to heel turns - to topless women - the pay-per-view had everything, and then some.

The first thing I will address is what is sure to be the most talked about moment in wrestling history. In a match for the WWF Women's Championship, four ladies competed in a swimming pool/evening gown match with the only one still dressed walking out with the championship. Miss Kitty wound up winning the match, the title - and the hearts of every man in the world when she decided to not disappoint everyone by stripping to her bra and panties and then removing her bra and exposing her breasts to the audience both in the arena and on pay-per-view until Sgt. Slaughter, who is now probably the most hated man in wrestling, covered her with a towel.

Granted, woman's wrestling matches have certainly detoured from the days of Wendi Richter and the Fabulous Moolah. The skill and athleticism associated with these matches have been replaced with T&A and chocolate pudding - but I think that while the twenty-something males of the world received an early Christmas present - I'm sure the mothers of the nine-year-olds felt differently.

The rest of the pay-per-view was just as exciting. Chris Jericho beat the Ninth-Wonder-Of-The-World to win his first WWF title. It was a great match back and forth with many near wins, but in the end, Chyna could not take the pain of "the walls of Jericho" so she tapped out giving Y2J the win and the I-C belt. During Jericho's post-match interview, Chyna came to congratulate Jericho on his win - a true sign of sportswomanship.

That was not the only title change of the night. The Big Valbowski showed he still had it when he beat the British Bulldog and D'Lo Brown to win the European Championship. In a fast-paced, pendulum-shifting match, Val shocked everyone by taking the win away from D'Lo as he was about to pin the Bulldog. All in all, it was a great match by all, and a great win for Val.

The award for the best performance of the night has to go to Vince McMahon. For a 53-year-old man to put on a match like he did is a true testament to him. Not only did he manage to stay in the game with the game fore almost a half an hour, but he took shots from Triple H, countless foreign objects including a garbage pail, helicopter gun - and almost a car and managed to fight back the best he could. Unfortunately for him, he lost the match - and his daughter. Still burning over the fact that Vince used her as a pawn to screw Stone Cold Steve Austin, Stephanie turned on her family and joined DX and her husband, Triple H, to wage war on the WWF and her own family.

So judging from Armageddon, we can all rest assured knowing that as we enter the 21st Century, the WWF will continue to provide it's fans with the formula that has made them the top federation in the industry.
